The Irrigation and Drainage Research Institute has carried out studies related with the efficient use of the water in the cultivation of protected tomato. The works were carried out in the provinces of Havana and Havana City. The main objectives of the same ones have been guided to determine the hydric necessities of the cultivation, obtaining of necessary indicators for the watering programming and the answer of the cultivation to the hydric deficit. The results, in general indicate that under protected conditions the consumption of water or Etc decreases significantly, that is feasible the programming of the watering with the Kc obtained experimentally and the Eto estimated by Class A tank method and that a moderated hydric deficit in the non critical phases of the cultivation didnt affect the production
