The contents of this article is the Laudatio presented by the author before awarding professor Nicolae Boș with the title of Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of Suceava. The first section refers to the criteria taken into accoung before making the decision to nominate professor Boș as DHC, followed by a extensive summary of his profesional career, with some important landmarks such as: the first usage if aerial photogrammetry in forest management planning, the first attempts to use aerial imagery in assessing the forest canopy composition and density as well as a great deal of work devoted to long distance levelling, along with professor Aurel Russu. His academic career is also extensively presented.
