<strong>Abstract</strong> From 1979 to 1985 the diet of the fox was studied by the analysis of 609 stomachs of which 534 were full. The gathered data were expressed as frequency of occurrence. Small mammals (F%=52.2), garbage (F%=36.3) and vegetables (35.6) were the main food categories, followed, in order of relative importance, by domestic animals, invertebrates, birds, other mammals, carrions and reptiles. Over the year the use varied stagionally mainly for vegetables and for invertebrates. The seasonal trophic niche, calculated by the Levins' normalized index, varied from 0.58 in winter to 0.68 in spring. <strong>Riassunto</strong> Dal 1979 al 1985 sono stati esaminati 609 stomaci di Volpe, di cui 534 pieni. I dati ottenuti, espressi come frequenza percentuale, evidenziano che i micromammiferi (F%=52,2), i rifiuti (F%=36,3) e i vegetali (F%=35,6) sono le principali categorie alimentari utilizzate; ad esse seguono, in ordine di importanza relativa, gli animali domestici, gli invertebrati, gli uccelli, altri mammiferi, carogne e rettili. Nell'arco dell'anno il consumo varia stagionalmente soprattutto per i vegetali e gli invertebrati. L'ampiezza della nicchia trofica, valutata mediante l'indice normalizzato di Levins, varia da 0.58 in inverno a 0,68 in primavera.
