Evaluation of burn up work of killed hens in incineration facilities

We plan to dispose of poultry carcasses infected with highly-pathogenic-avian-influenza virus by placing them in airtight 20-kg medical-waste containers and burning them in garbage incineration facilities. Methods of trans-porting containers to the injection hopper in A and B facilities and burning rate with wastes garbage in A facility are studied. Moreover, we estimated the capability of six incineration facilities in our jurisdiction to dispose of poultry carcasses. The garbage crane system and the manpower system with crates (back-pack methods) were tried in facility A, and the tile winch was tried in facility B. All three methods were capable of carrying carcasses to the hopper, and we think that these methods are usable at the six incineration facilities in our jurisdiction. One hundred poultry carcasses were burned in four steps in facility A, and no problems were observed in the combustion temperature, CO concentration, and incineration ashes. We found that we could dispose of poultry carcasses at up to 21% of the total amount of incinerated garbage. We also found that we could dispose of 42.4 t of poultry carcasses (about 21,000 birds) in the six incineration facilities in our jurisdiction. However, given the number of bird farms in our jurisdiction, we must also consider the practical use of waste incineration facilities in other jurisdictions in order to perform thermal disposal promptly.
