Dicarboximide resistance of Monilinia fructicola, the cause of brown rot of cherry, in Japan

Strains of Monilinia fructicola resistant to procymidone and iprodione were isolated from sweet cherry fruit affected by brown rot disease in Hokkaido. Resistant strains were pathogenic to cherry fruit treated with fungicides. The ECsub(50) values of the resistant strains ranged from 1.65 to 8.22mg/L procymidone and from 1.11 to 11.56mg/L iprodione, compared with 0.16mg/L procymidone and 0.11g/L iprodione for each sensitive strain. This is the first report of dicarboximide-resistant M. fructicola of cherry fruit in Japan.
