The omission of the covering of the cocooning frames by nets contributes to the labor saving. The effects of the omission of the nets on the double cocoon production by 'Tamakoishi' silkworm race were examined at the early autumn and the late autumn rearing seasons in 2015. Four of the 1650 silkworms placed on the uncovered cocooning frames dropped from the frames in the early autumn rearing and 3 of the 1650 silkworms dropped in the late autumn rearing. The number of double cocoons appeared in the covered and the uncovered cocooning frames was almost same in both the rearing seasons. Externally stained cocoons appeared more in the uncovered frames than in the covered frames.
