In order to maximize learning from IDRC-organized events, a monitoring and evaluation strategy was developed to compare actual events against objectives for IDRC’s participation. Surveys were distributed to workshop attendees and to audience members of the eight IDRC-sponsored panels. This evaluation reports on the results. The IDRC should make a greater effort in future to promote its panels to its target audiences leading up to and at the congress, as well as limiting the number of events that will be piggy-backed to future congresses. There was also a perceived need for more leisure time in between meetings and events.
