Show more [+] Less [-]This paper presents an attracnive application of the mussel watch concept 10' a population of the organisms grown on a pillar supporting an oil drilling platform - a potential source of hydrocarbons - situated nerar a de1taic system. The contribution of heavy metals and organochlorinated hydrocarbons to the population is thought to be due 1:0' the river transport The study includes the spectrophotometric and chromatographic analysis of five heavy metals, hydrocarbons - from C14 to C20 - arrd pesticides (HCH's, Heptachlor and p,p'-DDT relatives). We have also established ,the spatial distribution of pollutants using contour map techniques. The evaluation of the results has been carried out using statistical significance of rthe correlation coeffictients between pollutants
