Show more [+] Less [-]Determination of metal content in sediment samples has usually been performed by flame AAS or ETAAS, with prior sample preparation. In order to avoid problems related to conventional wet-oxidation and dry-ashing procedures, slurry sampling is an accepted and convenient technique for the analysis of numerous solid samples. Slurry samples can be prepared in different ways. Epstein et al. (1989) and Van den Akker and Van den Heuvel (1992) have used an automated ultrasonic slurry sampler to prepare the slurry. Mierzwa et al. (1997) proposed the determination of nickel and cobalt in soils and river sediment using an automatic ultrasonic slurry sampler and nitric acid
