Mit 38 884 t Wirkstoff (entsprechen 100 890 t formulierter Mittel) wurde im Jahre 1998 im Inland der höchste Absatz von Pflanzenschutzmitteln seit Beginn des Meldeverfahrens gemäß § 19 Pflanzenschutzgesetz im Jahre 1987 erreicht. An der Zunahme von 4236 t Wirkstoff gegenüber dem Vorjahr war mit 31 % ( 1298 t) das ausschließlich im Vorratsschutz eingesetzte inerte Gas Kohlendioxid beteiligt. Insgesamt 68 % des Zuwachses sind Fungiziden ( 1133 t), Herbiziden (784 t), Wachstumsreglern (701 t) und Insektiziden/Akariziden (282 t) zuzuordnen. Dies wird vornehmlich auf die erhöhte Anbaufläche pflanzenschutzintensiver Kulturarten und auf die gegebene Befallslage zurückgeführt. Bei Bezug der Wirkstoffmenge (ohne Kohlendioxid) auf Hektar landwirtschaftlich genutzter Fläche (LN) ergibt sich, dass die so ermittelten 1,9 kg/ha LN das Niveau der drei Vmjahre nicht wesentlich überschreiten und noch 37 % unter dem entsprechenden Wert von 1988 liegen. Wie schon in den Vmj ahren nahm auch 1998 der Marktanteil 1isikobehafteter Wirkstoffe ab und der Anteil neuerer, den zeitgemäßen Ansprüchen an Wirksamkeit, Toxikologie und Ökotoxikologie besser entsprechender Wirkstoffe zu. Für exportierte Pflanzenschutzmittel und die in ihnen enthaltenen Wirkstoffe besteht ebenfalls eine Meldepflicht. Nicht meldepflichtig sind hingegen Exporte von reinen bzw. technischen Wirkstoffen. Zum Teil gravierende Differenzen zu den Vorjahren beim Export von Wirkstoffen in Pflanzenschutzmitteln sind im wesentlichen auf das auf Pflanzenschutzmittel erweiterte Meldeverfahren zurückzuführen, das eine genaue Abgrenzung zum Export reiner bzw. technischer Wirkstoffe ermöglicht.

In 1998, the domestic sales of plant protections products in Germany amounted to 38,884 metric tons of active ingredients (corresponding to 100,890 t of formulated products) - the highest amount reported since the initiation of the notification procedure in 1987 according to Article 19 of the Plant Protection Act. Sales of the inert gas carbon dioxide alone increased by 31 % 1298 t as compared with the year before, thus contributing 31 % to the overall increase of 4,236 tons. On the whole, 68 % of the increase was attii buted to fungicides (1133 t), herbicides (784 t), growth regulators (701 t), and insecticides/acaricides (282 t). This is primarily attributable to the increased acreage of high pesticide intensity crops and to the unfavourable infestation situation. With respect to the amount of active ingredients (excluding carbon dioxide) per hectare of agriculturally utilised land (AUL), the 1998 figure of 1 .9 kg/ha AUL does not significantly exceed that of the three previous years and is 37 % below the amount determined in 1988. As in the previous years, the market share of riskrelated active ingredients decreased in 1988, and the share of new active ingredients, that better fulfil the current efficacy, toxicology, and ecotoxicology requirements increased. Thein some cases marked differences in the exported quantities of pesticide active ingredients as compared to the previous years are p1imarily due to the change in the notification procedure for plant protections products. The current procedure makes it possible to distinguish between the quantities of exported active ingredients in fonnulations and pure substances. Only active ingredients in pesticide formulations must be reported.
