Status Quo der Fauna von Insekten mit aquatischen Lebensphasen – Erhebungen innerhalb des Projekts "FInAL – Förderung von Insekten in Agrarlandschaften" | Status quo of insects with aquatic life stages – Surveys within the “FInAL project – Facilitating insects in agricultural landscapes”

Die Fragmentierung und Homogenisierung von Landschaften und der damit einhergehende Verlust von Habitaten sowie die Intensivierung der Landwirtschaft mit einseitigen Fruchtfolgen, dem häufigen Einsatz von chemischen Pflanzenschutzmitteln und mineralischen Düngemitteln hat zu einem Rückgang der biologischen Vielfalt auf landwirtschaftlichen Flächen geführt. Das Projekt FInAL hat das Ziel, die biologische Vielfalt von Insekten in der Agrarlandschaft zu fördern. In sogenannten Landschaftslaboren, Experimentierräumen mit realweltlichen Bedingungen, werden auf Basis von partizipativ entwickelten, regionalspezifischen Transformationspfaden Maßnahmen zur Förderung verschiedener Insektengruppen im Landschaftskontext umgesetzt. So sollen beispielsweise Nahrungsressourcen für Insekten geschaffen und Störungen reduziert werden. Gleichzeitig sollen die Maßnahmen für die Landwirte und Landwirtinnen ökonomisch umsetzbar sein. Zur Durchführung wurden drei Forschungslandschaften mit jeweils zwei Landschaftsausschnitten, d. h. Landschaftslabor und Referenzlandschaft ohne Transformationsziel, von 3x3 km ausgewählt. Die drei ausgewählten Regionen sind das Havelländische Luch in Brandenburg, der Elm in Niedersachen und das Rottal in Bayern. In diesen drei Regionen wird seit 2021 ein breit angelegtes Monitoring durchgeführt. Die ersten Aufnahmen (2021) dienen als eine Beschreibung des Status quo in den Landschaften. Die weiteren Beprobungen über die folgenden Jahre sollen den Zustand während der Transformation beschreiben und so eine Abschätzung der Wirksamkeit der durchgeführten Maßnahmen auf Landschaftsebene möglich machen. Dieser Zustandsbericht stellt die Ergebnisse der Zusammensetzung der Insektengemeinschaften in den Gewässern und den Zustand der Gewässerhabitate im Jahr 2021 dar. In den drei Regionen wurden in ausgewählten kleinen Stand- und Fließgewässern Kescherproben (Insekten) und Schöpfmischproben (Wasser) entnommen. Die Insektenproben wurden sortiert und, wenn möglich, bis auf die Art bestimmt. In den Wasserproben wurden Pflanzenschutzmittelrückstande und Nährstoffkonzentrationen analysiert. Zudem wurden im Feld Begleitparameter, wie z. B. die elektrische Leitfähigkeit, aufgenommen. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die Regionen und die Gewässertypen (Standgewässer/Gräben und Fließgewässer) faunistisch unterschiedlich sind. Mit Ausnahme der Standgewässer und Gräben in der Region Elm dominieren die Dipteren die Gemeinschaftszusammensetzungen der Insekten. Einige Arten, welche auf der Vorwarnliste stehen, als selten oder als tendenziell rückläufig im Bestand eingeschätzt werden, konnten in den Regionen nachgewiesen werden und deuten auf ein Potenzial zur Förderung dieser Arten hin. Dennoch zeigen die Wirkstofffunde und die Toxizitätswerte der Wasserproben, dass weitere Maßnahmen zum besseren Schutz der Gewässerhabitate notwendig sind. Besonders kritisch sind die Funde von Imidachloprid und Clothianidin (Neonicotinoide) zu bewerten und zukünftig weiter zu verfolgen, da die Eintrags- und Transportpfade in die Gewässer bisher unbekannt sind. Die Zusammenfassung der bisher durchgeführten Maßnahmen zeigt, dass die Maßnahmen bislang nicht unmittelbar auf die Förderung einzelner aquatischer Arten oder Gruppen abzielen, jedoch zum Schutz des Gewässerhabitats beitragen können. Um die Wirksamkeit der Maßnahmen in Zukunft besser einschätzen zu können und zielgerichtete Maßnahmen zu entwickeln, werden am Ende des Berichts ausgewählte mögliche Leitarten in Steckbriefen vorgestellt.

The fragmentation and homogenisation of landscapes and the associated loss of habitats as well as the intensification of agriculture with the use of chemical pesticides and fertilisers has led to a decline in biodiversity on agricultural land. Agricultural practices should therefore be adapted and a transformation towards resilient agroecosystems should be aspired in order to provide relevant ecosystem services. The FInAL project aims to promote the biodiversity of insects in the agricultural landscape. In socalled Agroecosystems Living Labs, measures to promote various insect groups in the landscape context are implemented. The implementation is based on participative developed and regionally specific transformation pathways. Examples for aims, which the selected measures should fulfil, are the promotion of food resources for insects and the reduction of stressors. At the same time, the measures should be economically feasible for farmers. Three research landscapes, each with two 3x3 km large landscape sections, were selected for implementation. The three selected regions are i) Havelländisches Luch in Brandenburg, ii) Elm in Lower Saxony and iii) Rottal in Bavaria. Extensive monitoring has been carried out in these three regions since 2021. The first surveys (2021) serve as a description of the status quo in the landscapes. Further sampling over the following years is intended to describe the condition of the insect communities during the transformation and thus make it possible to assess the effectiveness of the measures implemented. This status report presents the results of the composition of the insect communities in the water bodies and the status of the aquatic habitats in 2021. In the three regions, landing net samples (insects) and scoop samples (water) were taken in selected small standing and flowing waters. The insect samples were sorted and identified to the lowest taxonomic level possible. Pesticide residues and nutrient concentrations were analysed in the water samples. In addition, some accompanying parameters, such as electrical conductivity, were recorded in the field. The results show that the regions and water body types (standing waters/ditches and flowing waters) are faunistically different. With the exception of the standing waters and ditches in the Elm region, dipterans dominate the community composition of insects. Some species that are on the early warning list, are considered rare or are in decline have been detected in the regions and indicate a potential for promoting these species. Nevertheless, the pesticides found and the toxicity values of the samples show that measures are needed to improve the protection of aquatic habitats. Especially the findings of Imidachloprid and Clothianidin (neonicotinoids) are critical and must be monitored further, as the entry and transport pathways are not clear. The summary of the measures implemented to date shows that the measures are not directly aimed at promoting individual aquatic species or groups, but can contribute to the protection of aquatic habitats. In order to be able to better assess the effectiveness of the measures and develop target measures in the future, selected potential flagship species are presented in profiles at the end of this report.
