German. In a standard progeny test, 7 different genetic groups of pigs from the region of Westfalen-Lippe were monitored. A total of 679 piglets were fattened up to 120 kg, and slaughtered. Parameters of fattening performance and carcass quality were estimated. The average intramuscular fat content was 0,92 % (castrates 1,06 % and sows 0,78 %) with a low variance between the groups. The intramuscular fat content correlated positively the parameters of fattening performance and vice versa with lean meat proportion and eye muscle area.
