German. Landwirtschaftliche Produkte verantworten von der Produktion bis hin zum Verkauf im Einzelhandel eine Vielzahl von Treibhausgasquellen. Die Aufteilung der dabei entstehenden klimawirksamen Emissionen auf die Bereiche Produktion, Transport und Verarbeitung kann von Produkt zu Produkt sehr unterschiedlich ausfallen. So trägt die landwirtschaftliche Produktion von Bio-Bananen aus der Dominikanischen Republik nur zu 5% am gesamten Treibhausgasemissionsaufkommen bei. Der Rest entfällt mit 20% auf die Verarbeitung (Reifung) und zu 75% auf die Logistik. Die Kosten zur Neutralisierung der anfallenden Treibhausgas-Emissionen durch Emissionsrechte belaufen sich auf etwa 1 Cent pro Kilogramm Bananen.
Show more [+] Less [-]English. Agricultural products cause a number of sources of greenhouse gases from production through to sale in retail stores. Emission levels from production, transport and processing that affect the climate can differ greatly between different products. E.g. the agricultural production of organic bananas from the Dominican Republic contributes only 5% of the total greenhouse emissions. The remaining 20% comes from processing (ripening) and 75% from logistics. The cost of neutralising the accruing greenhouse gas emissions with carbon credits is approximately 1 cent per kilogram of bananas.
