The paper presents materials that confirm the importance of pig farming in supplying the population with meat and meat products. It specifies the morpho-productive peculiarities of the swine species, methods of breeding, rearing and fattening of animals. As the main branch of animal husbandry in the production of quality meat, the high precocity and low feed consumption of pigs are mentioned.
