Selection and composition of the ingested diet by goats fed ad libitum and restricted | Seletividade e composição da dieta ingerida por caprinos recebendo alimentação à vontade e restrita

English. This work aimed to evaluate the effects of the particle size on the selective habit of feedlot Moxotó and Canindé goats. Twenty-four non-castrated male kids (12 Moxotó and 12 Canindé) averaging four months and initial body weight of 15 kg were housed in individual stall, as a completely randomized design, in a 2x2 factorial arrangement with six replicates. Two feeding regimes were evaluated: 100% or ad libitum (AL) and 30% of the intake recorded for the animals from the AL group. The particle sizes of ration and orts were grounded through 1.700, 1.180, and 0.600 mm screens. Samples were collected during three consecutive days after 45 days of treatment. The particle size of orts was affect by the animal breed. Effect (P < 0.05) of breed and treatment on the diet chemical composition was observed. No effect (P<0.05) of feeding restriction on the composition of the consumed diet (% crude protein) was observed for Moxotó goats of control and 30% restriction treatments with averages of 18.1 and 17.4% CP, respectively.

Portuguese. Objetivou-se avaliar o hábito seletivo de caprinos das raças Moxotó e Canindé, em confinamento, por meio da granulometria do alimento. Vinte e quatro cabritos (12 Moxotó e 12 Canindé) com média de idade de quatro meses e peso corporal inicial de 15 kg foram alojados em baias individuais, segundo delineamento inteiramente casualizado, em um arranjo fatorial 2 x 2, com seis repetições. Os níveis de alimentação foram: à vontade (AL) e 30% de restrição em relação ao animal que recebia à vontade. A granulometria da ração e das sobras foi determinada por peneiras automáticas com mesh de 1,700; 1,180 e 0,600 mm. As sobras foram coletadas por três dias consecutivos após 45 dias de fornecimento da dieta. O perfil granulométrico das sobras foi influenciado apenas pela raça do animal. A composição bromatológica da dieta foi afetada (P < 0,05) pela raça e pelo tratamento. Foi observado efeito (P < 0,05) da restrição alimentar sobre a composição da dieta consumida (% proteína bruta) para os animais da raça Moxotó, com médias de 18,1 e 17,4% de PB para ostratamentos à vontade e 30% restrição, respectivamente.
