Propuesta de Remediación de la calidad de agua del río Tejar, ciudad de Otavalo

The Tejar river is located in the city of Otavalo, Imbabura province, the purpose of this study is to evaluate the state of the Tejar river water, which crosses a large part of the city and through the years has been seriously affected by solid waste contamination, industrial discharges and other factors that affect the ICA and ABI indices. The method used in this study established a quantitative-descriptive approach, through studies of physical, chemical and biological parameters, the quality of the water was established, with this information a water remediation plan was prepared. The results found show that there is a presence of pollutants that affect the aquatic ecosystem, and therefore affect the ABI and the ICA. It is important to mention that it was discovered that the wastewater treatment plants that were implemented in the slaughterhouse and Indutexma factory sectors had a positive influence to mitigate the level of contamination.

El río Tejar se encuentra situado en la ciudad de Otavalo, provincia de Imbabura, el presente estudio tiene como finalidad realizar la evaluación del estado en el que se encuentra el agua del rio Tejar, el cual cruza gran parte de la ciudad y a través de los años se ha visto seriamente afectado por la contaminación de residuos sólidos, descargas de industrias y demás factores que inciden sobre los índices ICA y ABI. El método utilizado en el presente estudio se estableció un enfoque cuantitativo-descriptivo, mediante estudios de parámetros físicos, químicos y biológicos se estableció la calidad del agua, con esta información se elaboró un plan de remediación de aguas. Los resultados encontrados arrojan que existen presencia de contaminantes que afectan el ecosistema acuático, y por ende inciden sobre el ABI y el ICA. Es importante mencionar que se descubrió que las plantas de tratamiento de aguas residuales que se implementaron en los sectores del camal y fábrica Indutexma influyeron de manera positiva para mitigar el nivel de contaminación.
