Some features of essential oil accumulation in the leaves of noble laurel under the conditions of Western Georgia.

The paper presents studies on the percentage content of essential oil in the leaves of the noble laurel plant according to the periods of the year in the main laurel-growing regions of Georgia. For the tests, samples of laurel leaves were taken from industrial plantations and homesteads in Samegrelo, Adjara, Guria, Imereti. Researches were carried out for three years. We aimed to convey some of the data obtained in the process of researching issues of essential oil accumulation in bay leaves, namely, what is the percentage content of essential oil in bay leaves in the climatic and soil conditions of Western Georgia, depending on its location and time of year. Our goal was to present the analysis of accumulation of essential oil in laurel leaves was done twice in the laboratory of the Agricultural Faculty of Akaki Tsereteli State University, by the Ginzburg method, which is based on the principle of steam distillation of essential oil. As a result of the conducted studies, it was determined that the content of essential oil in the leaves is different depending on the periods of the year and varies within quite a large range. A higher content of essential oil is observed in spring and autumn, in May and October. Tab. 3, Fig. 4, Ref. 4.
