Potencial genético de variedades locais de arroz de sequeiro do oeste catarinense

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o desempenho agronômico e industrial e a tolerância à seca de variedades locais, conservadas por agricultores familiares, em experimentos realizados em Anchieta e Florianópolis, SC, nas safras 2018/19 e 2019/2020. Os maiores valores de produtividade de grãos e altura de plantas foram obtidos em Florianópolis. O número de perfilhos, resistência ao degrane, número de ramificações e grãos não apresentaram comportamentos predominantes em um local. A resistência ao acamamento foi maior em Anchieta. A produtividade, o comprimento do colmo, o número de perfilhos, a resistência ao degrane, o número de ramificações por panícula e o número de grãos por panícula e a resistência ao acamamento variaram de 1.458,59 a 4.193,80 kg ha-1, 69,2 a 113,1 cm, 2,5 a 4 perfilhos por planta, 1,0 a 2,1 (escala de 1 a 3), 8,5 a 10,2 ramificações e 75,9 a 97 grãos, 1,5 a 9,0 (escala de 1 a 9), respectivamente. As diferenças foram significativas (p = 0,05) para os efeitos de genótipo, ambiente e interação genótipo (G) x ambiente (A) para a variável comprimento do colmo. Todas as demais variáveis apresentaram diferenças significativas (p = 0,05) para os genótipos e a interação e não significativos para os ambientes. Os maiores valores de renda e grãos inteiros foram obtidos em Anchieta. A renda, grãos inteiros e quebrados variaram de 57,93 a 69,90%, 38,73 a 66,0% e de 3,40 a 22,15%, respectivamente, tendo 15 variedades locais atingido valores semelhantes aos obtidos pelas variedades modernas de arroz de sequeiro. Barrigas brancas e gessados variaram de 0,10 a 8,68% e 0,02 a 3,12%, nessa ordem. As diferenças foram significativas (p = 0,05) para os efeitos dos genótipos, ambientes e da interação G x A para renda. Para as variáveis inteiros e quebrados, as diferenças foram significativas (p = 0,05) para genótipos e ambientes, mas não para interação G x A. Para barriga branca e gessados, diferenças significativas (p = 0,05) foram obtidas para genótipos e interação e não significativas para ambientes. Foi ainda estabelecido um ranking de estabilidade para as características estudadas. Os índices de variação conjunta para as características agronômicas variaram de 0,46 (número de ramificações) a 0,92 (número de perfilhos). Para as características industriais, foram obtidos índices de variação conjunta iguais ou superiores a 1,0 para inteiros, quebrados, barriga branca e gessados, com valores de até 3,43, no caso dos grãos barrigas brancas. A herdabilidade ampla conjunta variou de 62,83% (número de ramificações) a 97,68% (barrigas brancas). Quinze variedades apresentaram maior tolerância que as demais quando submetidas a nível de restrição hídrica severa de 10%. Já ao estresse moderado (20%), seis variedades apresentaram maior resistência que as demais, sendo que três delas se posicionaram entre as mais resistentes nos dois níveis de estresse aplicados. São apresentadas recomendações para uso imediato das mesmas e para melhoramento genético por seleção individual de plantas com testes de progênies dentro das variedades e entre variedades a partir de uma mistura de variedades assemelhadas, além de cuidados para a conservação da sua diversidade genética.

Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the agronomic and industrial performance and drought tolerance of local varieties, conserved by small-scale farmers, in experiments conducted in Anchieta and Florianópolis, SC, in the 2018/19 and 2019/2020 seasons. The highest values of grain productivity and plant height were obtained in Florianópolis. The number of tillers, resistance to degrane, number of branches and grains did not show predominant behaviors in one location. The resistance to bedding was higher in Anchieta. The productivity, the length of the thatch, the number of tillers, the resistance to degrane, the number of branches per panicle and the number of grains per panicle and the resistance to bedding varied from 1. 458.59 to 4,193.80 kg ha-1, 69.2 to 113.1 cm, 2.5 to 4 tillers per plant, 1.0 to 2.1 (scale from 1 to 3), 8.5 to 10.2 branches and 75.9 to 97 grains, 1.5 to 9.0 (scale from 1 to 9), respectively. The differences were significant (p = 0.05) for the effects of genotype, environment and genotype interaction (G) x environment (A) for the variable thatch length. All other variables showed significant differences (p = 0.05) for genotype and interaction and not significant for environments. The highest values of income and whole grains were obtained in Anchieta. Income, whole and broken grains varied from 57.93 to 69.90%, 38.73 to 66.0% and 3.40 to 22.15%, respectively, with 15 local varieties reaching values similar to those obtained by modern dry rice varieties. White and chalky bellies varied from 0.10 to 8.68% and 0.02 to 3.12%, in that order. The differences were significant (p = 0.05) for the effects of genotypes, environments and G x A interaction for income. For the whole and broken variables, the differences were significant (p = 0.05) for genotypes and environments, but not for G x A interaction. For white belly and chalky, significant differences (p = 0.05) were obtained for genotypes and interaction and not significant for environments. A stability ranking was also established for the characteristics studied. The joint variation rates for the agronomic characteristics varied from 0.46 (number of branches) to 0.92 (number of tillers). For the industrial characteristics, joint variation indexes equal to or higher than 1.0 were obtained for whole, broken, white belly and chalky, with values of up to 3.43, in the case of white belly grains. The joint wide heritability varied from 62.83% (number of branches) to 97.68% (white bellies). Fifteen varieties presented a higher tolerance than the others when submitted to a severe water restriction level of 10%. On the other hand, six varieties were more resistant than the others to moderate stress (20%), and three of them were among the most resistant in the two applied stress levels. Recommendations are presented for their immediate use and for genetic improvement by individual selection of plants with testing of progeny within the varieties and between varieties from a mixture of similar varieties, in addition to care for the conservation of their genetic diversity.
