Forest ecosystems, which occupy almost a third of the ice-free land surface, play an important role in the global carbon cycle due to their ability to store it in their tissues and mitigate the effects of climate change. Quantitative assessment of the performance of forest ecosystems is becoming relevant, and the accuracy of the assessment of phytomass and carbon, as well as the dry matter content (DMC), one of the most labor-consuming indicators in estimating the phytomass of trees, comes to the fore. The moisture content in the components of the tree and the DMC, as its inverse value, characterizes the vital state of the tree and is largely determined by both hereditary causes and growing conditions. It is known that the DMC is species-specific, however, data on its distribution in wood and bark along the stem are quite rare. The purpose of the study was to analyze the specific features of DMC changes in wood and bark along the stem of the tree. Considering the data of 3 823 disks sampled according to the relative stem heights of six forest-forming species along the Ural meridian, regression models of a mixed type were calculated, including as independent variables the tree age and the stem diameter, as well as the disk position along the stem. The DMC data affiliation to the species is considered by entering dummy variables into the model. The common character of the DMC change in both wood and bark has been established for the studied species, namely, its decrease in the direction from the base of the stem to its top. Some species differ significantly in the DMC in wood and bark. There are also differences in DMC of pine wood from different regions, apparently due to differences in moisture supply conditions.

Лесные экосистемы, занимающие почти треть свободной ото льда поверхности суши, играют важную роль в глобальном круговороте углерода благодаря своей способности накапливать его в своих тканях и смягчать последствия изменения климата. Актуальной становится количественная оценка продуктивности лесных экосистем, и на первый план выступает точность оценки фитомассы и углерода, а также содержания сухого вещества (ССВ) – одного из наиболее трудозатратных показателей при определении фитомассы деревьев. Содержание влаги в компонентах дерева и ССВ, как его обратная величина, характеризует жизненное состояние дерева и во многом определяется как наследственными причинами, так и условиями произрастания. Известно, что ССВ видоспецифично, однако данные о его распределении в древесине и коре вдоль по стволу довольно редки. Цель исследования - анализ видовых особенностей изменения ССВ в древесине и коре вдоль по стволу дерева. По данным 3823 дисков, взятых по относительным высотам ствола шести лесообразующих видов вдоль по уральскому меридиану, рассчитаны регрессионные модели смешанного типа, включающие в качестве независимых переменных возраст дерева и диаметр ствола, а также положение диска вдоль по стволу. Видовая принадлежность ССВ учтена вводом в модель фиктивных переменных. Установлен общий для исследованных видов характер изменения ССВ как в древесине, так и в коре, а именно его снижение в направлении от основания ствола к вершине. Некоторые виды существенно различаются по величине ССВ в древесине и коре. Имеются также различия ССВ в древесине сосны разных регионов, по-видимому, вследствие различия в условиях влагообеспечения.
