Main formation of the Caucasian fir (Abies nordmanniana S.) forest ecosystems in the natural distribution belt of the coniferous forest ecosystems of mountanious Adjara (Shuakhevi, Khulo forest areas) and general description of botanical, medicinal and other useful properties of some medicinal plants grown there.

The article privides information about main formations of the Caucasian fir (Abies nordmanniana.) forest ecosystems in the natural distribution belt of the coniferous forest ecosystems of mountainous Adjara (Shuakhevi, Khulo forest areas). The following associations of woody plants are found to be characteristic of the natural distribution for the coniferous forest ecosystems: 1) the fir-beech forest with rhodendron undergrowth (Abieto - Fagetum rhododendrosum), 2) the beechwood with flat leaved ragwort vegetation cover (Fagetum seneciosum), 3) the fir-beech forest with flat leaved ragwort vegetation cover (Abieto - Fagetum seneciosum), 4) the fir forest with cherry laurel undergrowth (Abietum laurocerasosum), 5) the spruce-fir forest with cherry laurel undergrowth (Piceto - Abietum laurocerasosum, 6) the fir forest with rhodendron undergrowth (Abietum rhododendrosum), 7) the the spruce-fir forest with rhodendron undergrowth (Piceeto - Abietum rhododendrosum), 8) the the beech-fir forest with rhodendron undergrowth (Fageto - Abietum rhododendrosum), 9) the fir forest with the Caucasian blueberry undergrowth (Abietum arctostaphylosum), etc., and some of the medical plants growing in them have been studied.
