Ancylostoma caninum is a hematophagous and endemic parasite that affects several mammals, including dogs, cats, wolves and even humans, so this disease represents a zoonosis. Where the most common symptom of hookworm is anemia that is related to the clinical manifestations among them is emesis, diarrhea, dehydration, loss of appetite, weight loss, arrest in the absorption process and obstruction in the intestine that can lead to the death of the canine. Therefore, knowing the presence of this parasite in this sector would help to establish prevention and control strategies for the canine population analyzed. The experimental research was carried out with the purpose of determining the prevalence of Ancylostoma caninum in domestic dogs living in the United for Peace 1 Cooperative, in the city of Guayaquil. To do this, 40 stool samples were collected and the direct smear technique was used to identify the presence of Ancylostoma caninum. Also, risk factors potentially related to the infestation were analyzed, such as age, sex, race, habitat and deworming at one year. The results of the study indicated that, of the total number of dogs examined, 1 of them was found to have tested positive for Ancylostoma caninum, representing a prevalence of 3%. The other 39 dogs ended up being negative, with a prevalence of 97%. Finally, no significant differences were found in the variables analyzed using Pearson's non-parametric Chi-square test (X2), such as age, race, sex, habitat.
