The research was conducted to evaluate the maternal forms of corn hybrids at different crop densities in order to identify the optimal density in the hybridization sectors. The biological material consisted of 11 maternal forms of different genetic constitution and precociousness, including 5 male-sterile lines and 6 simple hybrids. The influence of increased densities on the following important characters for the parental forms was estimated: grain yield, thousand-grain mass (MMB), upper ear insertion height and duration of the "emergence - silking" period. The experimental variants were studied at 4 crop densities - 40, 50, 60 and 70 thousand plants per hectare, on 10 m2 plots, in three repetitions. It was found that the grain production of the parental forms increased simultaneously with the plant density, the maximum level being reached at the density of 70 thousand plants, at the same time the MMB values decreased with the increase in density. Also, the increased density caused the extension of the period "emergence - appearance of stigmas" in the maternal forms, but it influenced less the manifestation of the character "height of insertion of the upper spikelet". For each maternal form the optimal cultivation density was determined, which, in general, constitutes 50 - 60 thousand harvestable plants per hectare.
