Producción de semilla en 3 tipos de tomate L. esculentum en condiciones del valle geográfico del río Cauca

Para evaluar nueve variedades de tomate se empleó un diseño en bloques completos al azar con 4 repeticiones. En rendimiento de fruto y semilla sobresalieron la línea Lp-10 (55 t/ha y 335 kg/ha) y el grupo Chontos (48.4 t/ha y 237.3 kg). El rendimiento en semilla fue muy bajo (102.7 kg) para las variedades de mesa. En general las curvas de producción de frutos coincidieron con las de producción de semilla para los tres tipos de tomate. Cerca del 70% de la semilla se obtuvo entre la 4 y 8 cosecha de un total de once. En tomates para Mesa el índice y el porcentaje de germinación fue bajo. Los rendimientos en semillas dependieron positivamente de los rendimientos en fruto, del peso de 100 semillas y negativamente del peso promedio del fruto y del número de semillas por fruto. La germinación dependió negativamente de la acidez y los sólidos solubles. El habito de crecimiento no parece tener relación con el rendimiento de semilla.<br>This experiment was carried out at Miranda, Cauca. The objetive was to evaluate and to compare the seed production in nine tomato varieties corresponding to three growth habits and uses a randomized block desing with 4 repetition was used. The best yielding cultivar was Lp-10 with 55 t/ha of fruits and 335 kg/ha in seed. Both seed (237.3 kg) and fruit (48.4 t) yields were the highest for Chontos (indeterminated type). Seed yield was very low (102.7 kg) for table tomatoes. Seed yields matched fruit yields curves for the three tomato types. Near 70% of all seed was obtained between the 4th and 8th harvest out of eleven. Seed quality measured as weight of 100 seeds, germination and vigor was good for Chontos and processing tomatoes. Again Table tomatoes showed low quality. Seed yields were positively correlated with fruit yield and 100 seed weight. They were negatively correlated with fruit weight, and fruit seed number. Germination was negatively correlated with acidity and soluble solids. Growth habit did not seem to have any relationship with seed yields.
