Air and ferric chloride (FeCl3) successfully reduced the H2S content. The bacterial profile obtained by Single Strand Conformation Polymorphism (SSCP) was demonstrably modified after the introduction of air whereas the biogas production (volume, %CH4) was not significantly affected.
