Field evaluation of minicore collection of sesamum against phyllody disease

Phytoplasma transforms floral parts into green leaf like strucutres which results in phyllody disease. Usage of resistant varieties is one of the most viable options for the management of the sesame phyllody. Screening of available germplasm lines is essential to identify the real source of resistance. One hundred and fourty three lines were screened against sesame phyllody disease during Kharif 2021 at College of Agriculture, Vijayapur under natural conditions. The disease incidence for individual germplasm line was calculated from 30 DAS upto maturity at 15 days interval. Based on the last observation recorded, the genotypes were later grouped into different categories. Among 143 minicore accessions screened against sesamum phyllody disease, no infection was observed in 116 germplasm lines and were immune (I) to the disease. Fifteen lines were highly resistant (HR), seven lines were moderately resistant (MR) and five lines were moderately susceptible (MS) and none of the lines were highly susceptible and susceptible.
