Avifauna local y procesos de reforestación: una propuesta para el reconocimiento del impacto de la deforestación con la comunidad cafetera del corregimiento de Palmarito | Local birdlife and reforestation processes: a proposal for recognition of the impact of deforestation with the coffee-growing community of the Palmarito township

Desde los comienzos de la historia el ser humano ha transformado el entorno natural para uso y beneficio propio, lo que ha generado alteración de los ciclos ecosistémicos. Teniendo en cuenta estas transformaciones la observación de aves es una de las actividades basadas en la naturaleza de gran receptividad por diferentes tipos de personas, es un recurso importante para incentivar la participación de diferentes actores locales y el conocimiento de la diversidad biológica del territorio, permitiendo favorecer directamente los propósitos de responsabilidad ambiental. Por lo anterior, se caracterizó el Avifauna local y se establecieron diálogos de saberes ecológicos con actores dueños de fincas cafeteras en el corregimiento de Palmarito para reducir la deforestación. Partiendo de preguntas semiestructuradas y saberes ecológicos de los actores partícipes que establecieron cambios en el ecosistema como; Aumento de temperaturas, pocas lluvias, modificación en los mecanismos de siembra del café, reducción de la flora representativa del territorio como también aves y pequeños mamíferos que ya no habitan en el territorio. Con respecto a las actividades de avistamiento los actores reconocen individuos que comúnmente convergen en sus jardines y cafetales como; El sinsonte común (Mimus gilvus), la guacharaca (Ortalis columbiana), el azulejo (Thraupis episcopus) y el tres pies (Tapera naevia). Durante la actividad se reflejó que al estudiar minuciosamente los individuos de avifauna del territorio son varias las especies (48 especies avistadas y fotografiadas). En la actividad de reforestación se realizó la siembra de plántulas de las especies (Erythrina poeppigiana), (Tecoma stans), (Cecropia angustifolia), (Jacaranda caucana), (Handroanthus chrysanthus) y (Inga edulis) donde cada participante estableció un criterio de siembra para beneficiarse a largo plazo y contribuir a la conservación del entorno natural local. Actividades que permitieron reconocer la riqueza natural del territorio, la dinámica de sus ecosistemas y mecanismos de conservación.

Since the beginning of history, humans have transformed the natural environment for their own use and benefit, which has led to altered ecosystem cycles. Considering these transformations, birdwatching is one of the nature-based activities that is highly receptive to different types of people. It is an important resource for encouraging the participation of different local stakeholders and increasing their knowledge of the territory's biological diversity, allowing for the direct promotion of environmental responsibility. Therefore, the local birdlife was characterized and ecological knowledge dialogues were established with coffee farm owners in the Palmarito district to reduce deforestation. Based on semi-structured questions and the ecological knowledge of the participating stakeholders, they identified changes in the ecosystem such as: rising temperatures, low rainfall, changes in coffee planting methods, reduction of the territory's representative flora, as well as birds and small mammals that no longer inhabit the area. Regarding birdwatching activities, participants recognized individuals that commonly converge in their gardens and coffee plantations, such as the common mockingbird (Mimus gilvus), the guacharaca (Ortalis columbiana), the bluebird (Thraupis episcopus), and the three-legged woodpecker (Tapera naevia). During the activity, it was evident that a thorough study of the territory's birdlife revealed several species (48 species sighted and photographed). During the reforestation activity, seedlings of the following species were planted: Erythrina poeppigiana, Tecoma stans, Cecropia angustifolia, Jacaranda caucana, Handroanthus chrysanthus, and Inga edulis. Each participant established planting criteria to benefit the local environment in the long term and contribute to its conservation. Activities that allowed us to recognize the natural wealth of the territory, the dynamics of its ecosystems, and conservation mechanisms.
