REGARD SUR LES PARCOURS DE LA STEPPE ALGERIENNE : UNE REVOLUTION AU RYTHME DE DEVOLUTION - CAS DE LA REGION DE M'SILA -

English. The main objective of this contribution is to establish a diagnosis of the steppe rangelands in theM'sila region. Field investigations in 11 representative areas revealed that the pastoral environment is under theinfluence of a degradation spectrum negatively impacted by the combination of several factors causing animbalance at several levels. The rangelands are being systematically cleared, accelerating the spread of thedesertification phenomenon, while the nomadic farming system, based on hoarding (storing sheep on the hoof),is leading on the one hand to an overloading of pastures and on the other to strong pressure on grazing. Giventhis alarming situation and the fragility of the steppe ecosystem, a new strategy is needed, based on rational useand efficient management of pastoral areas. La présente contribution dont l’objectif principal se veut se veut établir un diagnostic relatif auxparcours steppiques à travers la région de M’sila dont 11 zones représentatives ont fait l’objet d’investigations deterrain révélant que le milieu pastoral se voit sous l’emprise du spectre de dégradation impacté négativement parla conjugaison de plusieurs facteurs causant par la même un déséquilibre à plusieurs niveaux. En effet lesparcours sont systématiquement défrichés, accélérant ainsi l’extension du phénomène de désertification, alorsque le système d’exploitation nomade, basé sur la thésaurisation (stockage du cheptel ovin sur pieds) entrained’une part une surcharge des pâturages et d’autre part une forte pression sur la vaine pâture. Devant cettesituation alarmante outre de la fragilité de l’écosystème steppique qu’une nouvelle stratégie s’impose dès lors ens’appuyant à la fois sur une rationalité en matière d’exploitation et une gestion efficiente des espaces pastoraux.Ce à quoi la présente étude, type synthèse, tente de mettre en évidence.
