Konstruksjon, Instrumentering og Drift av mini-RAS

Oppdrettsnæringen er i stadig forandring og utvikling. Spesielt har landbasert oppdrett hatt stor teknologisk utvikling. Landbasert oppdrett gir oppdrettere mulighet for å kontrollere vannparameterene, og har derfor blitt mye mer populært gjennom denne utviklingen. Det største problemet er at det krever landareal å drive landbasert oppdrett. Landareal er en veldig viktig ressurs som brukes til mange ulike prosjekter, og det vil være viktig å utnytte denne ressursen best mulig. På grunn av dette vil det være viktig for landbasert oppdrett å ha muligheten til å nedskalere, slik at areal bruken optimaliseres. Denne oppgaven tar for seg hvordan en slik nedskalering vil fungere. Dette vil inkludere konstruksjon, instrumentering og drift av et såkalt mini-RAS anlegg. Konstruksjonsdelen tar for seg hvilke komponenter som brukes i anlegget, rekkefølgen på disse i systemet, hvordan disse fungerer, og dimensjoneringen av disse i forhold til rommet de er plassert i. Instrumenteringsdelen tar for seg sensor- og målesystemer, som skal bidra til å oppdage feil og sikre god fiskevelferd i anlegget. Her er det viktig å se på hvilke sensorer som er best å bruke, og den teoretiske bakgrunnen for hvordan disse målingene gjøres. For å se hvordan sensorene er koblet opp i systemet, vil det lages et teknisk flyt skjema av systemet. Alle sensorene vil være koblet opp mot en pc, hvor målte verdier kan leses av. I driftsdelen er det fokus på selve fisken. For å sikre god drift og fiskevelferd er det viktig å se på fôringsmengde, veksten hos fisken, vannparameterene, og fysiologien til fisken, f.eks. osmoregulering og smoltifisering. All informasjon som innhentes i driften av anlegget skal loggføres i en driftsjournal. Denne skal være tilgjengelig for myndigheter, og kan bidra til å gjøre senere drift bedre. Mini-RAS anlegg er like effektive som vanlige RAS anlegg, bare at de er mindre i størrelse og har lavere produksjonsnivå. Produksjoner i stor skala er derfor ikke noe som disse anleggene er egnet for. Hovedpoenget med mini-RAS vil være å produsere en ønsket mengde fisk på et begrenset areal. Blant annet kan forskning bli bedre, siden de trenger mindre areal for å drive oppdrett av fisk og kan ha anlegget i labben.

Aquaculture is constantly changing and evolving. In particular, land based aquaculture has had massive technological developments. Land based aquaculture allows the farmers to control the water parameters and has therefore become much more popular during this development. The biggest problem is that it requires land area to conduct land based aquaculture. Land area is a very important resource, and it will be important to best utilize this resource in the future. Because of this, it will be important for land based aquaculture to have the option to downscale, so that the area use can be optimized. This thesis looks at how this downscaling will work. This will include construction, instrumentation and operation of a so-called mini-RAS facility. The design part of the thesis looks at which components are used in the facility, the order of the components in the system, how the components work, and the dimensions of the components compared to the room they are placed in. The instrumentation part of the thesis looks at sensor and measurement systems, which will help detect errors and ensure good fish welfare in the facility. Here it is important to look at which sensors are the best to use, and the theoretic background for how the measurements are made. To see how the sensors are connected in the system, a piping and instrumentation diagram of the system will be made. All of the sensors will be connected to a computer, where the measured values can be read in real time. In the operation part of the thesis, the focus is shifted to the fish. To secure a good operation and good fish welfare, it is important to look at the feeding volume, the growth of the fish, the water parameters, and the physiology of the fish, e.g. osmoregulation and smoltification. All the information and data collected in the operation of the facility must be logged in an operation journal. The journal will be available for the authorities and can help make future operations better. Mini-RAS facilities are just as efficient as regular RAS facilities, only that they are smaller in size and have lower production levels. Large-scale productions are therefore not something these facilities are suitable for. The main point of mini-RAS facilities will be to produce a desired number of fish in a limited area. Among other things, research can be improved, since they need less space to farm fish and can have the facility in the lab.
