This metadata form provides a description of the dataset for the FishFirst! Zambia study that was conducted in the communities around Lake Kariba. The study was conducted from 10th to 20th May 2021. The dataset is a combination of tools covering; (i) WEFI (Women’s Empowerment in Fisheries Index); (ii) MDD-WRA (Minimum Dietary Diversity for Women of Reproductive Age); and (iii) MDD-IYC (Minimum Dietary Diversity-Infant Young Child Module). Below is a summary of the respondents’ categories for each subsection (tool) presented in this dataset: • 485 men and women responded to questions on WEFI, and of these 167 were husband and wife pairs; • 298 women of reproductive age respondent to questions on MDD-WRA, and • 232 mother and infant pairs respondents to questions on MDD-IYC for children 6–23 months. The questionnaire (see here) was updated/revised on the second day of data collection and because of this there were two datasets by the end of the study. The datasets were merged and new questions were added or modified. For example, questions like “In what form was the [SELECTED] fish consumed; what kind of a toilet facility does your household have?” and others do not have responses for the QID (question identification) number 435 to 485 due to the changes that were introduced in the revised questionnaire. Lastly, the dataset has a ‘main datasheet’ and 23 subforms/excel sheets. The subforms were generated from repeating questions, and each repeating question has one or more a parent QID number which links it to the main datasheet (main QID).
