Tecnificación de un sistema productivo de café (coffea arábica) como apoyo al manejo cultural y fomento al desarrollo social en el municipio de Riofrío, Valle del Cauca | Technification of a coffee (coffea arábica) production system to support cultural management and promotion of social development in the municipality of Riofrío Valle del Cauca

El cultivo de café es uno de los más importantes en Colombia, ya que, este representa cerca del 25% del PIB agrícola a nivel nacional y cerca de 546.382 familias campesinas lo cultivan como medio de sustento. Por tal motivo, este trabajo se basó en realizar un manejo técnico a un cultivo de café variedad castillo, en un área de, 4270,32 m², en la vereda Miravalle del corregimiento de Fenicia, Valle del Cauca. El proyecto se dividió en 4 componentes: componente agronómico, investigativo, social y empresarial. El manejo agronómico realizado dentro del cultivo demostró que la incorporación del análisis de suelo, monitoreo de plagas, enfermedades y arvenses permitieron obtener resultados satisfactorios en la producción. De 599,3 kg de café pergamino seco (cps) que se proyectaron, se obtuvo un total de 599,5 kg de cps. Los costos directos fueron los que mayor impacto tuvieron dentro del proyecto, el costo de la mano de obra tuvo mayor impacto, con un valor total de COP 3.107.000, seguido el costo de insumos con un valor de COP 1.831.406. El componente investigativo permitió caracterizar la población rural de la vereda Miravalle, donde, se encontró que la producción es minifundista (menos de 3 ha por unidad productiva), la mayor parte de las fincas de la región poseen viviendas con paredes de concreto, techos en zinc, pisos de concreto, cuentan con servicio energía eléctrica y acueducto, poseen ingresos menores a COP 1.500.000 al mes, no se aplican buenas prácticas agrícolas, los rendimientos son menores a 200 kg/ha de cps al mes. Por otra parte, el apoyo técnico a 7 familias campesinas de la vereda Miravalle, mediante capacitaciones relacionadas con el uso de agroquímicos, permitió resolver inquietudes y tabúes afines con la aplicación de pesticidas, y obtener un conocimiento más amplio sobre los riesgos, precauciones y beneficios al manipular estos productos. Este trabajo permitió abordar de forma general cada uno de los componentes, siendo un punto de referencia para los productores de la región.

Coffee cultivation is one of the most important in Colombia since it represents about 25% of agricultural GDP at the national level and about 546,382 peasant families cultivate it as their means of livelihood. For this reason, this work was based on carrying out a technical management of a Castillo variety coffee crop, in an area of 4270,32 m² in the Miravalle village of the municipality of Fenicia, Valle del Cauca. The project was divided into 4 components: agronomic, investigative, social, and business component. The agronomic management carried out within the crop showed that the incorporation of soil analysis, pests, diseases, and weed monitoring allowed for obtaining satisfactory results in the production. From 599.3 kg of dry parchment coffee (dpc) that were projected, a total of 599.5 kg of dpc was obtained. The direct costs were the ones that had the greatest impact on the project, the cost of labor had the greatest impact, with a total value of COP 3,107,000, followed by the cost of agricultural supplies with a value of COP 1,831,406. The investigative component allowed characterizing the rural population of the Miravalle village, where it was found that the production is smallholder (less than 3 ha per productive unit), most of the farms in the region have houses with concrete walls, zinc roofs, concrete floors, have electricity and aqueduct service, have incomes of less than COP 1,500,000 per month, good agricultural practices are not applied, and yields are less than 200 kg/ha cps per month. On the other hand, the technical support to 7 peasant families from the Miravalle village, through training related to the use of agrochemicals, allowed solving concerns and taboos related to the application of pesticides and obtaining a broader knowledge about the risks, precautions, and benefits when handling these products. This work allowed a general approach to each of the components, being a point of reference for producers in the region.
