Due to the effort of minimalizing negative environment impact and maximizing products recuperation, the goal of this research was to review available food waste processing methods and to propose hierarchy of food waste processing methods. The basic prerequisite for more significant valorization of organic matter is food waste separation from other types of communal waste. Additional food waste separation, by the type of raw material, would allow direction of different types of food waste streams at different types of technological processing, for obtaining different product types. Food waste left after removal for specific technological processing, together with unseparated food waste, should be directed at series of technological processing which require less selected raw materials. Only unused food waste should be sent to landfill, as final destination.
