abstractPL: Równa proporcja płci potomstwa wydaje się być strategią stabilną ewolucyjnie. Coraz więcej dowodów wskazuje na to, że stosunek płci w lęgach ptaków jest zmienny i odbiega od równowagi. Postęp technologiczny w molekularnym oznaczaniu płci ptaków umożliwia dokładniejsze przebadanie zjawiska dysproporcji płci w lęgach, aczkolwiek przez czasochłonność tych badań wciąż istnieje potrzeba wykorzystywania metod umożliwiających szybszą identyfikację płci młodych ptaków, choćby przez pomiary morfometryczne. W tej pracy przedstawiono wyniki molekularnej analizy płci 318 piskląt bociana białego Ciconia ciconia z południowej Polski wraz z analizą ich trzech wymiarów ciała: długości dzioba, długości skrzydła i masy ciała. Udział samców w strukturze płci młodych bocianów był wyższy w każdym z badanych województw, aczkolwiek nie stwierdzono różnic istotnych statystycznie. Młode samce dominowały nad młodymi samicami pod względem większej masy ciała, miały również dłuższe skrzydła jak i dzioby. Wykazano korelację pomiędzy masą ciała piskląt a liczbą młodych w gnieździe, która ukazała, że im więcej było piskląt, tym osiągały one większą masę ciała.

abstractEN: Equal sex ratio of offspring seems to be an evolutionarily stable strategy. There is growing evidence that the sex ratio in bird broods is variable and out of balance. Technological progress in the molecular determination of the sex of birds enables a more accurate study of the phenomenon of gender imbalance in breeding, although the time-consuming nature of this research still requires the use of methods enabling faster identification of the sex of young birds, even with morphometric dimensions. This paper presents the results of a molecular analysis of the sex of 318 chicks of the white stork Ciconia ciconia from southern Poland together with an analysis of their three body dimensions: beak length, wing length and body weight. The share of males in the gender structure of young storks was higher in each of the surveyed voivodships, although no statistically significant differences were found. The young males dominated the young females in terms of greater body weight, they also had longer wings and beaks. There was a correlation between the body weight of chicks and the number of young in the nest, which showed that the more chicks there were, the more body weight they reached.
