En el presente trabajo se determinó la característica exterior de velocidad para el motor de combustión interna Yuchai trabajando con combustible biodiesel procedente de aceite de girasol (Helianthus annus) y se comparó con la característica exterior de velocidad del motor originalmente trabajando con combustible diesel. Los resultados alcanzados a través de la metodología para el cálculo térmico en motores diesel demostraron que el motor trabajando con combustible biodiesel presentó una disminución de la potencia efectiva y un aumento del consumo especifico de combustible para el biodiesel al 100%.

In the present work the external speed characteristic for the Yuchai engine was determined by working with biodiesel from sunflower oil (Helianthus annus) and compared with the external speed characteristic of the engine originally working with diesel fuel. The results obtained through the methodology for thermal calculation in diesel engines showed that the engine working with biodiesel fuel presented a decrease of the effective power and an increase of the specific consumption of fuel for the biodiesel to 100%.
