SOP-006 DNA extractions from fish tissue
2025 | 2020
Kasmi, Yassine | Eschbach, Erik
Extraction of total DNA from cod and hake tissues (e.g. fin and liver) in order to be used for downstream analyses. Cited modified from Qiagen Handbook DNeasy Blood & Tissue Kit: “Samples are first lysed using proteinase K. The lysate is subsequently treated with RNase to remove RNA (even fin tissue contains high amounts of RNA) and loaded onto a spin column. During centrifugation, DNA is selectively bound while contaminants pass through. Remaining contaminants and enzyme inhibitors are removed with wash steps and DNA is then eluted in water or buffer, ready for use.”
