Transaction and professional costs in the forest management | Costi di transazione e costi professionali negli interventi selvicolturali

English. Transaction costs are a major component of the total costs of forestry production process. Their existence is due to the coexistence of public and private interests with which forest management must commensurate with. Transaction cost can be considered as the defense costs to protect the interests of forest owner and the community in the use of forest resources. The author presents the results of a regional scale survey on professional costs that are a specific type of transaction costs external of the processing cycle. The study shows how these costs tend to increase with the complexity of procedures and the ecosystems. In absolute terms their incidence is not relevant, however, especially for the quercus of quercus, which usually have a low value market production, their magnitude is so relevant that could cause the loss of any monetary margin for the forest management.

Italian. I costi di transazione costituiscono una componente rilevante dei costi complessivi del processo produttivo forestale. A differenza di molti altri settori produttivi, la loro presenza si deve alla coesistenza dell’interesse pubblico e privato con cui deve commisurarsi la gestione forestale. Essi possono essere intesi come dei costi difensivi a tutela degli interessi della proprietà e della collettività generale nell’uso delle risorse forestali. L’autore presenta i risultati di un’indagine su scala regionale relativa ai costi professionali, ovvero una particolare fattispecie dei costi di transazione esterni al ciclo di trasformazione. Lo studio evidenzia come questi costi tendano ad accrescersi con la complessità delle procedure e con quella degli ecosistemi. La loro incidenza in termini assoluti non è rilevante, tuttavia soprattutto per gli ecosistemi quercini aventi produzione a basso valore unitario, la loro entità è tale da poter determinare la perdita di qualsiasi convenienza economica all’esecuzione degli interventi selvicolturali.
