English. The genus Ceiba, according to Standley (Contr. USN Herb. 23: 789 et seq. 1923.) comprises 4 species indigenous to Mexico, of which C. parvifolia in addition to its own taxonomic characters, has several others that distinguish it: while that reaches 10 to 12 meters in height or less, with a trunk of 40 to 50 centimeters in diameter and lives in the dry hills of Pue., Oax., Mor. and Gro., the other species (among which C. pentandra (L.) Gaertn stands out for being better known and with a wider distribution, they are usually huge trees found in more humid regions.

Herb. 23:789 et seq. 1923.) comprende 4 especies indígenas de México, de las cuales la C. parvifolia además de sus caracteres taxonómicos propios, tiene otros varios que la distinguen: mientras que alcanza 10 a 12 metros de altura o menos, con tronco de 40 a 50 centímetros de diámetro y vive en los cerros secos de Pue., Oax., Mor. y Gro., las otras especies (entre las cuales destaca la C. pentandra (L.) Gaertn por ser más conocida y de más amplia distribución comunmente son árboles enormes que se encuentran en las regiones más húmedas.
