English. Abstract: Red sea bream iridovirus (RSIV) is a virus in the genus Megalocystivirus, is considered an important cause of Red sea bream iridoviral diseases. This disease causes significant economic damage to marine fish farming in Asia. Several factors accelerate disease spread, including water temperatures of 20–25°C, peak viral shedding before or at death, and high susceptibility in fish under one year old. Symptoms found in infected fish are not specific, such as uncoordinated swimming, fins rotting, petechial hemorrhage at gills lamellae, skin ulcer concurrent with enlargement of spleen, kidney and liver. Indirect immunofluorescence (IIF) test and Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) were used for rapid diagnosis. For disease prevention, the administration of an inactivated RSIV vaccine using formalin-killed virus, in conjunction with biosecurity measures and best farm management practices, is a crucial strategy for mitigating the risk of viral outbreaks.

Thai. บทคัดย่อ: Red sea bream iridovirus (RSIV) เป็นไวรัสในสกุล Megalocystivirus ซึ่งเป็นสาเหตุสำคัญของโรค Red sea bream iridoviral disease ที่ส่งผลกระทบอย่างมีนัยสำคัญต่ออุตสาหกรรมการเพาะเลี้ยงปลาทะเลในภูมิภาคเอเชีย ปัจจัยที่ส่งผลต่อการแพร่กระจายของโรคอย่างรวดเร็ว ได้แก่ อุณหภูมิน้ำในช่วง 20–25 องศาเซลเซียส ระยะเวลาก่อนที่ปลาป่วยจะตายหรือขณะตาย ซึ่งเป็นช่วงที่มีการปล่อยเชื้อสูงสุด (viral shedding) และความไวต่อการติดเชื้อที่สูงในปลาที่มีอายุน้อยกว่า 1 ปี ปลาที่ติดเชื้อ RSIV จะมีอาการของโรคไม่จำเพาะเจาะจง ประกอบด้วยอาการว่ายน้ำเฉี่อยชา การเคลื่อนไหวผิดปกติของแผ่นปิดเหงือกอันเนื่องมาจากภาวะโลหิตจางรุนแรง ครีบเปื่อย พบจุดเลือดออกบริเวณซี่เหงือก แผลหลุมที่ผิวหนัง ช่องท้องขยายใหญ่ ร่วมกับการขยายตัวของม้าม ไต และตับ การวินิจฉัยโรคอย่างรวดเร็วสำหรับปลาที่สงสัยว่าติดเชื้อ RSIV สามารถทำได้โดยใช้เทคนิค indirect immunofluorescence (IIF) และ polymerase chain reaction (PCR) สำหรับการป้องกันโรคโดยการใช้วัคซีนจากเชื้อ RSIV ที่ถูกทำให้ตายด้วยฟอร์มาลินร่วมกับมาตรการควบคุมโรคตามหลักความปลอดภัยทางชีวภาพ และแนวทางการจัดการที่ดีในฟาร์ม ถือเป็นแนวทางสำคัญในการลดความเสี่ยงของการแพร่ระบาด
