ANALYSIS OF THE FACTORS THAT MOST INFLUENCE ON SUGAR CANE INDUSTRIAL YIELD | ANÁLISIS DE LOS FACTORES QUE MÁS INCIDEN SOBRE EL RENDIMIENTO INDUSTRIAL AZUCARERO

English. The Cuban sugar industry needs to implement methods to quantify the influence of technological process variables on the sugar cane industrial output as accurately as possible. It is needed to predict the behavior of its productive process in order to plan and optimize the use of the technical, financial and human resources to improve those technological variables that most influence on sugar cane industrial output. In this context the present paper seeks, firstly, to identify those technological variables that are correlated with the industrial performance and the main losses in the process, through the principal component analysis; and secondly, to quantify the effect of these variables on the sugar cane industrial output, losses in final molasses and bagasse losses, by using multiple regression models of log-log. The analysis of the results obtained by these statistical tools and their use to simulate different operating conditions of the process is shown. The developed models are useful to act from a technological point of view of the process and improve control over it.

El sector azucarero cubano requiere implementar métodos que permitan cuantificar con mayor precisión la influencia de las variables tecnológicas del proceso sobre el rendimiento industrial. Se necesita prever el comportamiento de su proceso productivo con el fin de planificar y optimizar el uso de los recursos técnicos, humanos y financieros para mejorar aquellas variables tecnológicas que tienen mayor peso sobre el rendimiento industrial. En este contexto el presente trabajo busca, en primer lugar, identificar aquellas variables tecnológicas que más correlacionadas están con el rendimiento industrial y las principales pérdidas del proceso, a través del análisis de componentes principales; y en segundo lugar, cuantificar el efecto de estas variables sobre el rendimiento industrial azucarero, las pérdidas en miel final y las pérdidas en bagazo, mediante el empleo de modelos de regresión múltiple del tipo log-log. Se muestra el análisis de los resultados obtenidos por estas herramientas estadísticas y su empleo para simular diferentes condiciones de operación del proceso. Los modelos desarrollados son útiles para actuar desde el punto de vista tecnológico sobre el proceso y mejorar el control del mismo.
