Characterization of the Winegrowers of the Major Wine Regions in Bolivia | Caracterización de los productores de vid en las principales zonas vitivinícolas de Bolivia

English. This paper has the aim to perform the characterization of the winegrowers of the major wine regions of Bolivia: the Central Valley of Tarija and the Cintis Valley. After identifying the differences between the two study areas, a typology of the viticultural systems is built evaluating their sustainability, in order to provide an information base that allows the formulation of programs and projects that promote development and prevent new failures, those that have already happened previously—by assuming a homogenity between both areas and producers. The results determined that Central Valley of Tarija winegrowers have different production systems than the Cintis Valley ones; this fact can demonstrate social, economic, environmental and technical differences. Four types of winegrowers of the Central Valley of Tarija were identified, and in the Cintis Valley, three types could be identified. The comparison of the sustainability of the zones can concluded that the Cintis Valley reached the highest value of the General Sustainability Index.

Spanish; Castilian. El presente trabajo propone una caracterización de los productores de uva de las principales zonas vitivinícolas de Bolivia: el Valle Central de Tarija y el Valle de los Cintis. Tras identificar las diferencias entre ambas zonas de estudio, se construye una tipología de los sistemas vitícolas evaluando su sustentabilidad, a fin de otorgar una base de información que permita formular programas y proyectos que promuevan el desarrollo y prevengan nuevos fracasos, los que ya sucedieron anteriormente por suponer una homogeneidad entre ambas zonas y productores. Los principales resultados señalan que los productores de vid del Valle Central de Tarija forman un sistema de producción diferente de los viticultores del Valle de los Cintis, al reconocer diferencias económicas, técnicas, ambientales y sociales; al respecto, en el Valle Central de Tarija se identifican cuatro tipos de productores, mientras que en el Valle de los Cintis tres tipos. La comparación de la sustentabilidad de las zonas determina que el Valle de los Cintis alcanzó el mayor valor del Índice de Sustentabilidad General.
