Effects of Mechanized Harvesting of Sugarcane over the Soil | Efectos de la cosecha mecanizada de la caña de azúcar sobre el suelo

English. The present work is focused on the effects on the soil due to the traffic of sugarcane harvesting machines. The investigation took place in areas of three different units of sugarcane production in the UEB “Héctor Rodríguez”, located on the north coast of Villa Clara. The CASE IH 8 800 harvesting machine and self-dumping car pulled by the Maxxum CASE 150 tractor were used for the study. The main characteristics of the predominant soils were determined, as well as the variations of soil micro relief, the bulk density and the soil moisture. The results showed soil modifications due to the traffic of the equipment during the harvest, highlighting the effect of the tractor and self-balancing aggregate. The machines introduce considerably modifications in field profile, by moving over and through the furrow, affecting the root zone. Dry bulk density values characteristic of heavy clay soils, were found, increasing this value after the harvesting machinery passing. On the other hand, soil moisture of 64.0% became in serious traffic problems for tractor self-balancing aggregates and causing traffic jam.

Spanish; Castilian. El presente trabajo aborda el efecto sobre el suelo del paso del sistema de máquinas para la cosecha de caña de azúcar (saccharum officinarum). La investigación tuvo lugar en áreas de tres unidades de producción de caña, de la UEB Héctor Rodríguez, en la costa Norte de Villa Clara. Se emplean para el estudio la cosechadora CASE IH 8 800 y el autobasculante tirado por el tractor Maxxum CASE 150. Se determinaron las principales características de los suelos predominantes, así como las variaciones del microrrelieve, la densidad aparente y los valores de humedad. Los resultados demostraron afectaciones en el suelo debido al tráfico de los equipos durante la cosecha, destacándose el efecto del agregado tractor-autobasculante que afecta considerablemente el microrrelieve por desplazarse sobre el cantero y afectar las cabeceras de los surcos por el viraje y parqueo inadecuado de los equipos. Se encontraron valores de densidad aparente característicos de los suelos arcillosos pesados y un aumento considerable de este valor debido al paso de la maquinaria. Por su parte los niveles localizados de humedad de 64,0%, provocaron serios problemas de traficabilidad para los agregados tractor-autobasculante y ocasionando reiterados atascaderos.
