Laurel verticillium wilt is one of the most important diseases of the laurel plant due to its negative impact. The causative fungus, Verticillium albo atrum, lives in the soil, is polyphagous in nature, and is a strong pathogen. It penetrates the plant through the roots and root collar, releases toxic substances that move through the vascular bundles in the plant, and are the cause of plant wilting and drying.
