Some issues of using chemical mutagens in citrus breeding.

The issue concerns some aspects of the use of chemical mutagens in citrus breeding. All measures aimed at increasing the spectrum of variability, including mutagenesis, naturally aim to obtain new forms and varieties. This is when citrus fruits themselves are naturally prone to mutation-variability. An analysis of the results of research work on induced mutagenesis in citrus fruits makes it clear that mutagens cause a mutagenic effect. The frequency and spectrum of mutation are high and diverse. Work needs to continue in order to select a mutagen that will allow us to subject the specific change of genes to the breeder's desire.
