Bulgarian. The aim of this study is to characterize the pedogenesis of three catenas. Soil organic matter content and composition, and cation exchange properties are comment and compared. There are a high per cent of unextractable organic carbon content in the studied soil samples. Based on the pedogeographic reasons we have identified a boundary between two major soil groups according to FAO-Unesco soil classification in Mesta River valley.
