Nowadays, safe and effective alternatives are being sought for the control of pests and phytopathogenic microorganisms in crops, which is why a vast field of research has emerged focused on the study of plant extracts, as well as the secondary metabolites present in them. The use of plant extracts represents a low-cost technology that is compatible with the environment and human health. This document compiles some studies carried out in Mexico that provide evidence on the biological effectiveness of plant extracts obtained from common plants for the control of phytopathogenic microorganisms, pests and weeds.

Actualmente, se buscan alternativas seguras y efectivas para el control plagas y microorganismos fitopatógenos en los cultivos, por lo que ha surgido un vasto campo de investigación centrado en el estudio de extractos vegetales, así como los metabolitos secundarios presentes en estos. El uso de extractos vegetales representa una tecnología de bajo costo y es compatible con el medio ambiente y la salud humana. Este documento recopila algunos estudios realizados en México que proporcionan evidencia sobre la efectividad biológica de extractos vegetales obtenidos de plantas comunes para el control de microorganismos fitopatógenos, plagas y arvenses.
