Solid waste management is one of the challenges faced by many countries. The Philippines generates a large volume of waste, with a projected increase in the coming years due to population growth, urbanization, and economic development. Poor solid waste management will lead to various problems in health, environment and socio- economic aspects. Findings revealed that respondents have very high level of environmental awareness along the seven environmental themes. On the extent of practice of the respondents, results showed that they have a good extent of practice, however, community folks have poor practices on the following environmental themes: stewardship, finiteness of resources, balance of nature, and interdependence at home and in the community where they belong while very poor on materials cycle. Correlation analysis revealed that there is a significant relationship between the level of awareness and extent of practice of the respondents along the seven environmental themes. In addition, it was found that the components of the service learning project were rated strong by the validators. It implies that the plan is an effective pedagogy to help the community folks improve their awareness and practices towards the environment.
