Impact of bacterial isolates and consortia on the growth and response of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) to thermal stress in vitro and in vivo | Impacto de isolados e consórcios bacterianos no crescimento e resposta da batata (Solanum tuberosum L.) ao estresse térmico in vitro e in vivo

Climate change is one of the biggest concerns of recent decades for researchers, farmers, economists and governments. Experts on this field show the damage it causes to agriculture; however, agriculture itself is part of the causes of global climate change, as is conventional agriculture. In order to guarantee food production in the long term, it is necessary to develop sustainable agricultural practices based on conservationist approaches. These practices should allow farmers to obtain economic benefits while guaranteeing stable long-term production and minimizing the negative impact on the environment. In this context, the use of microbial inoculants plays a fundamental role and can be considered one of the main drivers for sustainable agriculture that is not so vulnerable to climate change. Different microorganisms are proposed as biofertilizers, biostimulants, and biocontrol agents to improve plant growth and productivity, in addition to their adaptation to abiotic and biotic stresses, in different production systems such as in in vitro culture. Therefore, in this study, we evaluated the ability of nine multifunctional bacteria to promote the growth and production of two potato cultivars (Solanum tuberosum L.) under in vitro and in vivo conditions. The results show that bacterial attributes such as the hormones production and enzyme ACC deaminase activity influence plant growth, improve the plant's adaptive capacity in vivo, and increase tuber production. Similarly, micro plants of potato cv Ágata were biotized with microbial consortia formed with the best strains and subjected to heat stress. The inoculated micro plants showed a higher growth rate in vitro and in vivo. Their physiological and biochemical responses to heat stress were improved, as shown by the greater activation of the antioxidant enzymes that minimize the harmful impact of H2O2 (SOD, APX, and CAT) and Malondialdehyde on the plant's tissues. The contents of photosynthetic pigments and osmolytes were also increased, maintaining tuber formation under these stress conditions. The results show that cultivating plants with individual microbial inoculants or in consortia can find a strategic place in vitro cultivation and environments under abiotic stress.

As mudanças climáticas são uma das maiores preocupações das últimas décadas para os pesquisadores, agricultores, economistas e governos. Os especialistas nessa área mostram os danos que essas mudanças provocam na agricultura. No entanto, a própria agricultura faz parte das causas das mudanças climáticas globais, como é a agricultura convencional. Para garantir a produção de alimentos a longo prazo, é necessário desenvolver práticas agrícolas sustentáveis baseadas em abordagens conservacionistas. Estas práticas devem permitir aos agricultores obter benefícios econômicos, garantindo ao mesmo tempo uma produção estável a longo prazo e minimizando o impacto negativo no ambiente. Neste contexto, o uso de inoculantes microbianos desempenha um papel fundamental e podem ser considerados como um dos principais impulsionadores para uma agricultura sustentável e não tão vulnerável às mudanças climáticas. Diferentes microrganismos são propostos como biofertilizantes, bioestimulantes e agentes de biocontrole para melhorar o crescimento e a produtividade das plantas, além de sua adaptação a estresses abióticos e bióticos, em diferentes sistemas de produção como seu uso em culturas in vitro. Portanto, neste estudo, avaliou-se o potencial de nove bactérias multifuncionais em promover o crescimento de duas cultivares de batata (Solanum tuberosum L.) usadas em condições in vitro e in vivo. Os resultados mostraram que atributos das bactérias como a produção de hormônios e da enzima ACC deaminase influenciam no aumento do crescimento das plantas, melhoraram sua capacidade adaptativa in vivo e aumentam a produção de tubérculos. Da mesma forma, micro plantas de batata cv Ágata foram biotizadas com consórcios microbianos, formados com as melhores cepas e submetidas ao estresse térmico. As micro plantas apresentaram maior taxa de crescimento in vitro e in vivo. Suas respostas fisiológicas e bioquímicas ao estresse térmico foram melhoradas, como demonstrado pela maior ativação das enzimas antioxidantes que minimizaram o impacto nocivo de H2O2 (SOD, APX e CAT) e malondialdehído nos tecidos da planta. O conteúdo de pigmentos fotossintéticos e osmólitos também aumentaram, mantendo a formação de tubérculos sob essas condições de estresse. Os resultados mostram que cultivar plantas com inoculantes microbianos individuais ou em consórcios pode ter um lugar estratégico no cultivo in vitro e em ambientes sob estresse abiótico.
