The work purpose was zoning of the southern Russia territory by heat and moisture availability corresponding to the ecological needs of cotton plants. Eight Federation entities forming the south of Russia – the Republics of Dagestan, Kalmykia, the Crimea, Krasnodar and Stavropol territories, Astrakhan, Volgograd and Rostov regions – were included into zoning area. Data on the values of average daily temperatures were collected at 51 meteorological stations in the south of Russia in the entities under consideration for the period from 2012 to 2023. The sum of growing degrees was adopted as an indicator characterizing the thermal resource of the territory and determining the possibility of cotton plant cultivation. It has been established that for early-ripening varieties it is 1560 deg. C, for medium–ripened - 1625-1635 deg. C, for medium–late and late-ripening - more than 1800 deg. C. As a result of calculating the sums of growing degrees, a map of isolines of this index for cotton plants was constructed. As revealed the thermal resources of the southern Russia partially correspond to the environmental requirements of cotton plants. In the territory under consideration the sums of growing degrees vary from approximately 1500 to 1800 deg. C. The analysis of the thermal resources of the south of Russia allows concluding that the northern boundary of the possible placement of cotton crops is located on the isoline corresponding to 1500 deg. C, passing through the Rostov and Volgograd regions, as well as the plain area of the Republic of Crimea. In view of the moisture availability conditions of the south of Russia a guaranteed obtaining of raw cotton harvest is possible with irrigation only. | Цель работы - районирование территории юга России по тепло- и влагообеспеченности, соответствующей экологическим потребностям хлопчатника. Районирование проводили на территории 8 субъектов федерации, формирующих юг России: Республики Дагестан, Калмыкия, Крым, Краснодарский и Ставропольский края, Астраханская, Волгоградская и Ростовская области. Сбор данных о значениях среднесуточных температур производился по 51 метеостанции юга России в рассматриваемых субъектах за период с 2012 по 2023 г. В качестве показателя, характеризующего тепловой ресурс территории и определяющего возможность возделывания хлопчатника, принята сумма эффективных температур. Установлено, что для скороспелых сортов она составляет 1560 град. C, для среднеспелых – 1625–1635 град. C, для среднепозднеспелых и позднеспелых – более 1800 град. C. В результате расчета сумм эффективных температур была построена карта изолиний суммы эффективных температур для хлопчатника. Выявлено, что тепловые ресурсы территории юга России частично соответствуют экологическим потребностям хлопчатника: на рассматриваемой территории суммы эффективных температур варьируют примерно от 1500 до 1800 град. C. Анализ тепловых ресурсов юга России позволяет сделать вывод о том, что северная граница возможного размещения посевов хлопчатника располагается на изолинии, соответствующей 1500 град. C и проходящей через Ростовскую и Волгоградскую области, а также равнинную часть Республики Крым. Учитывая условия влагообеспеченности юга России, гарантированное получение урожая хлопка-сырца возможно только при наличии орошения.
