Первое научное обоснование гетерозиса было дано Ч. Дарвиным, который отмечал преимущество гетерозиготных растений над гомозиготными, обусловленное разнокачественностью гамет гибрида F1.

Such fame came to him owing to his inspiring hard-working, scientific professionalism and expertise in searching mysterious mechanisms that are responsible for economically valuable traits transferring into hybrid forms from the parental plants.

В 2007-2009 годах проведены исследования по агротехнике выращивания дайкона в условиях Приохотской зоны Магаданской области. По итогам исследований можно сделать вывод о том, что дайкон может успешно выращиваться в экстремальных почвенноклиматических условиях Севера Дальнего Востока при соблюдении агротехнических требований региональной технологии возделывания.

Изучена изменчивость морфологических признаков вигны овощной в Сибири в условиях пленочной теплицы и открытого грунта. В результате изучения коллекционных форм и гибридного потомства вигны овощной выявлены разные морфотипы и хозяйственно ценные формы с зеленой, красно-пурпурной и краснозеленой окраской плода, пригодные для дальнейшего изучения и создания продуктивных сортов. При изучении наследования окраски плода вигны выявлен доминантный характер наследования пигментации в F1 и расщепление в соотношении 9 : 3 : 4 в F2, характерное для комплементарного действия неаллельных генов, контролирующих этот признак.
