Heat Shock Protein 90 (Hsp90) is an essential chaperone that supports the function of a wide range of signaling molecules. Hsp90 binds to a suite of co-chaperone proteins that regulate Hsp90 function through alteration of intrinsic ATPase activity. Several studies have determined Aha1 to be an important co-chaperone whose binding to Hsp90 is modulated by phosphorylation, acetylation and SUMOylation of Hsp90 [1,2]. In this study, we applied quantitative affinity-purification mass spectrometry (AP-MS) proteomics to understand how phosphorylation of hAha1 at Y223 altered global client/co-chaperone interaction [3]. Specifically, we characterized and compared the interactomes of Aha1–Y223F (phospho-mutant form) and Aha1–Y223E (phospho-mimic form). We identified 99 statistically significant interactors of hAha1, a high proportion of which (84%) demonstrated preferential binding to the phospho-mimic form of hAha1.The mass spectrometry proteomics data have been deposited to the ProteomeXchange Consortium (http://proteomecentral.proteomexchange.org) via the PRIDE partner repository [4] with the dataset identifier http://www.ebi.ac.uk/pride/archive/projects/PXD001737.

Atom Probe Tomography (APT) analysis and hardness measurements were used to characterize the early stages of precipitation in an Al–0.51at%Mg–0.94at%Si alloy as reported in the accompanying Acta Materialia paper [1]. The changes in microstructure were investigated after single-stage or multi-stage heat treatments including natural ageing at 298K (NA), pre-ageing at 353K (PA), and automotive paint-bake ageing conditions at 453K (PB). This article provides Supporting information and a detailed report on the experimental conditions and the data analysis methods used for this investigation. Careful design of experimental conditions and analysis methods was carried out to obtain consistent and reliable results. Detailed data on clustering for prolonged NA and PA treatments have been reported.

Nuclear receptors play an important role in transcriptional regulation of diverse cellular processes and is also relevant in diseases such as cancer. In breast cancer, the nuclear receptors – estrogen receptor (ER) and progesterone receptor (PR) are classical markers of the disease and are used to classify breast cancer subtypes. Using a recently developed affinity purification MS technique (RIME) [1], we investigate the protein interactors of ER and PR in breast cancer cell lines upon stimulation by the ligands – estrogen and progesterone. The data is deposited at proteomeXchange (PXD002104) and is part of a publication [2] that explains the link between the two nuclear receptors and potential consequences of this in breast cancer. In this manuscript, we describe the methodology used and provide details on experimental procedures, analysis methods and analysis of raw data. The purpose of this article is to enable reproducibility of the data and provide technical recommendations on performing RIME in hormonal contexts.

The biological diversity of the Earth is being rapidly depleted due to the direct and indirect consequences of human activities. Specialist or rare species are generally thought to be more extinction prone than generalist or common species. Testing this assumption however requires that the rarity and ecological specialization of the species are quantified. Many indices have been developed to classify species as generalists vs. specialists or as rare vs. common, but large data sets are needed to calculate these indices.Here, we present a list of specialization and rarity values for more than 2800 plant species of continental France, which were computed from the large botanical and ecological dataset SOPHY. Three specialization indices were calculated using species co-occurrence data. All three indices are based on (dis)similarity among plant communities containing a focal species, quantified either as beta diversity in an additive (Fridley et al., 2007 [6]) or multiplicative (Zeleny, 2008 [15]) partitioning of diversity or as the multiple site similarity of Baselga et al. (2007) [1]. Species rarity was calculated as the inverse of a species occurrence.

Experimental and theoretical studies on nanowires have reported a size-dependence of the Young׳s modulus in the axial direction, which has been attributed to the increasing influence of surface stresses with decreasing wire diameter. Internal interfaces and their associated interface stresses could lead to similar changes in the elastic properties. In Kobler et al. [1], however, we reported results from atomistic calculations which showed for Ag that twin boundaries have a negligible effect on the Young׳s modulus.Here, we present data of density-functional theory calculations of elastic constants and Young׳s modulus for defect-free bulk Ag as well as for bulk Ag containing dense arrays of twin boundaries. It is shown that rigorous convergence tests are required in order to be able to deduce changes in the elastic properties due to bulk defects in a reliable way.

This data article contains data related to the research article entitled, "Protocol for rat single muscle-fiber isolation and culture" by Komiya et al. [1]. It has yet to be shown whether adult myosin heavy chain (MyHC) isoforms are expressed at a readily detectable level in cultured myotubes. In this study, we examined whether adult MyHC isoforms could be detected in myotubes differentiated from rat satellite cells using a Western blotting assay and specific antibodies against slow MyHC, fast MyHC and pan-MyHC. Results showed that slow adult MyHC isoforms were faintly detected in myotubes, suggesting that rat myotubes express adult MyHC isoforms although that amount is very low.

In this data article, we described the synthetic routes to four biotinylated probes (2, 3, 4, and 5) of artemisinin and the associated experimental procedures. We also provided the physical data for the synthesized compounds. These synthesized biotinylated probes of artemisinin are useful molecular tools for the affinity-labeling study of target receptor proteins of artemisinin in tropical pathogens such as Trypanosoma, Leishmania, and Schistosoma. The data provided herein are related to “Biotinylated probes of artemisinin with labeling affinity toward Trypanosoma brucei brucei target proteins”, by Konziase (Anal. Biochem. (2015)).

This data contains insights into the upregulation of the ER-Golgi-soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor-attachment protein receptors (ER–Golgi SNAREs) syntaxin 5 (Syx5) by ER stress and the downregulation of Syx5 by apoptosis induction. Use of the protein synthesis inhibitor verified the de novo synthesis of Syx5 under ER stress in NG108-15 cells. We also provide validation data for the increase of Syx5 expression caused by ER stress using different chemical compound and overexpression analysis. Interpretation of our data and further extensive insights into the role of Syx5 in βAPP processing under ER stress can be found in Suga et al. (2015)[1].

CAPN3 is a calpain superfamily member that is predominantly expressed in skeletal muscle. So far, clear CAPN3 orthologs were found only in vertebrates. CAPN3 is a unique protease in that it undergoes extremely rapid and exhaustive autolysis and that autolyzed fragments spontaneously associate each other to reconstitute the proteolytic activity. These unique properties of CAPN3 are dependent on IS1 and IS2, two CAPN3-characterizing sequences that do not exist in other calpains or any other proteases. To understand how IS1 and IS2 are conserved among vertebrates, this data article provides amino acid sequence alignment of representative vertebrate CAPN3s. This data article is related to our recently published article (Hussain et al., in press [1]) where we have proposed a new solar cell model based on n-ZnO as front layer and p-Si as rear region. The ZnO layer will act as an active n-layer as well as antireflection (AR) coating saving considerable processing cost. There are several reports presenting use of ZnO as window/antireflection coating in solar cells (Mansoor et al., 2015; Haq et al., 2014; Hussain et al., 2014; Matsui et al., 2014; Ding et al., 2014 [2–6]) but, here, we provide data specifically related to simultaneous use of ZnO as n-layer and AR coating. Apart from the information we already published, we provide additional data related to growth of ZnO (with and without Ga incorporation) layers using MOCVD. The data related to PC1D based simulation of internal and external quantum efficiencies with and without antireflection effects of ZnO as well as the effects of doping level in p-Si on current–voltage characteristics have been provided.
