Effects of dietary ochratoxin A (OA) and T-2 toxin, fed singly and in combination, were evaluated in growing crossbred pigs. Thirty-six barrows (3 replicates of 3 for each of 4 treatment groups, mean body weight, 18.0 kg) were fed: 0 mg of OA and 0 mg of T-2/kg of feed (control); 2.5 mg of OA/kg of feed; 8.0 mg of T-2/kg of feed; or 2.5 mg of OA plus 8.0 mg of T-2/kg of feed for 30 days. Production performance, serum biochemical, hematologic, immunologic, and pathologic evaluations were made. Body weight and body weight gain were decreased by all toxin treatments, but the combination toxin treatment reduced weight gain more than did either of the toxins administered singly and could be considered additive. Liver weight was decreased by combination treatment, whereas kidney weight was increased by OA treatment. Ochratoxin decreased serum cholesterol, inorganic phosphorus, and alkaline phosphatase values; reduced mean cell volume, hemoglobin concentration, and macrophage phagocytosis; and increased creatinine and total protein values. Consumption of T-2 toxin reduced hemoglobin and serum alkaline phosphatase values. The combination treatment decreased serum cholesterol, gamma-glutamyltransferase, alkaline phosphatase, mean cell volume, hematocrit, and hemoglobin values, as well as lymphoblastogenesis and phagocytosis, and increased serum nine concentration. We concluded that OA and T-2, singly or in combination, can affect clinical performance, serum biochemical, hematologic, and immunologic values, and organ weights of growing barrows. Although some analytes were affected more by the combination than by either toxin alone, the interactions could best be described as additive, not synergistic.

It were studied 60 hearts of crossbreed pigs to observe the frequency, width and localization of the myocardial bridges on the coronary arteries. The hearts had their coronary arteries injected with colored solution of Neoprene latex - 450 - and were fixed in formalin solution to posterior dissection. The results permited the following conclusions: -myocardial bridges occured in 36.36% of the examined hearts in number between one and three in the same hearts and it had been found a total number of 32 bridges: -the myocardial bridges width varied from 0.2 cm to 1.9 cm with an average of 0.75 cm: -myocardial bridges are more frequent in the medium (36.66%), dorsal (31.25%) and ventral (31.25%) portions of the studied hearts; -myocardial bridges occur predominantly on the right coronary artery branches (65.62%) than on the left coronary artery branches (34.37%).
|

There were observed the origin, the number and the ordering of the thymic vessels in 30 dogs fetuses, by dissection after injection with Neoprene latex 450 solution and fixation with formalin solution at 10%. The results permited to conclude that: the thymic arteries come, directly and indirectly, from the internal thoracic arteries, brachiocephalic trunk, pericardicophrenics arteries, costocervicals trunks and subclavian arteries, wich combined by theirself given from five to fourteen contributions that showed a own vascularization model for each organ.
|

The distribution of the ramus principalis sinister of lhe biliary ducts of 40 adult females of Jaffarabadi breed buffaloes was studied after latex Neoprenie 650 and Celobar injections through theductus choledochus. Following fixation in 10% formaldehyde solution, radiograms were taken from the specimens and then dissected. The ramus principalis sinister is formed usually by several roots, ramus medialis lobi sinistri, truncus intermediomedialis, truncus intermediolateralis, ramus lateralis lobi sinistri. In addition, innominate tributaries originating from the lobus caudatus (pars supraportalis), lobus sinister (medial, intermediate and lateral territories), lobus quadratus and lobus dexter. In a few cases the ramus principalis sinister had components inter-related or related to the vesica fellea.
